Here it comes! The days grow shorter, the cold sets in and you find yourself dreaming of the warm and comforting ambience of the holiday season. Paris offers you this dream. Come and celebrate Christmas in the capital, be dazzled by the multitude of illuminations, and go on a shopping spree in the city’s Christmas markets or wonderful shops. Les Tournelles cordially invites you!
A magical ambience
The City of Light earns its name during this festive period. By the end of November, the capital’s main arteries are festooned with lights. Sweet stars, colourful garlands, shimmering curtains of illumination; everything transports you to a world that will make your eyes gleam with child-like delight. The windows of the world-famous Parisian department stores are also a big part of the attraction, with their unique, creative and imaginative displays offering a glimpse into an enchanting world. Watch as the fairies and elves prepare for the festivities in the workshop of the man in red.
To continue the magic, the capital also offers many Christmas markets. Whether you simply want to take a stroll between illuminated Christmas trees and small wooden chalets packed with gifts and treats, or need to do some serious shopping to find the perfect gift or the ideal tasty item for your Yuletide menu, these are the places to visit. Pick up some delicious regional food and drink at Montparnasse market. Fine selections of Christmas decorations are ready to grace your home, courtesy of the Quai Branly market. Two other markets are essential: the one located on the forecourt of La Defense, with its 400 m² of decorations and 300 chalets, and the Champs Elysees market.
Experience Christmas in a new way
Paris offers many events to turn up the magic factor even higher. For example, the Festival du Merveilleux opens at Bercy just before Christmas. Enchanting rides, games and shows take you to a special world filled with all the fun of the fair.
Paris is the perfect place to enjoy a festive dinner in an upscale restaurant and create unforgettable memories. You can also attend a dinner cruise on the Seine and see the city from a fresh perspective. Cabarets welcome you at this special time, offering festive menus and shows bursting with spectacle and colour.
The capital also offers the tranquillity needed for quiet contemplation. Christmas Mass at Notre Dame Cathedral or the Sacré-Cœur Basilica will remain in your heart forever. You will find yourself uplifted by the Nativity scenes in churches throughout the city.
Staying in Paris at the year’s end provides a unique opportunity to explore the capital. From the Hotel Les Tournelles you can move around the city quickly and easily thanks to our proximity to the Metro, bus and RER services. You can do your shopping and drop off your bags before heading out into the evening to soak up the Parisian magic without wasting a moment.
