The Atelier des Lumières is one of the newest Paris museums. Opened in April 2018, this digital art centre presents monumental immersive exhibitions. Digital art in the spotlight at the Immersive Art Festival of the Atelier des Lumières
The first digital art centre in Paris, the Atelier des Lumières, will shortly host the leading festival dedicated to immersive digital design. Like the Atelier des Lumières itself, this event is at the cutting edge. Graphic design and immersive digital design come together to present a visual feast that will amaze you.
The Immersive Art Festival takes place over 7 exceptional evenings, each one beginning at 19:00. From October 18th to 23rd, 11 art collectives will compete on a stage specially set up for the occasion. 140 state of the art video projectors will be combined with around fifty speakers to cover an area of more than 3,000 m². You will discover the magic of sound spatialisation, combined with motion design and other artistic techniques resulting from digital technology. The public interacts with digital sculptures made by the candidates, who each have 4 minutes to project their work. More than an exhibition, it's a show that lasts up to 23 hours since the creations are projected on a continuous loop. You can even vote for your favourites, as visitors are invited to rate the works according to the relevance of the storytelling, the quality of the images, animation and audio quality. The evening of the 24th will be dedicated to the awards ceremony.
A festival with an international flavour
The 11 collectives that will face off through digital art are of various nationalities. Six of them are from France, but there will also be Irish, Turkish and Belgian artists. This accentuates the diverse artistic and cultural interest of this extraordinary event. The jury is also comprised of professionals from various countries. The Atelier des Lumières will be the meeting point for these great minds.
Other Atelier des Lumières events
In parallel with the Immersive Art Festival, the Atelier des Lumières will host a student project. 12 tracks by the French rapper Orelsan will be illustrated by motion design. The result is 12 unique creations, each lasting 60 seconds. Together, they form a composition that is well off the beaten path and will be broadcast continuously. While staying at the Hotel Les Tournelles, you can also enjoy Van Gogh: Starry Night, an exhibition that opened last February and will continue until December 31st, 2019. It plunges you into the creative world of the tormented but brilliant Vincent Van Gogh.
