Stage musicals in Paris; shows not to be missed

Moving, funny, colourful and tuneful, musicals remain high on the Parisian cultural itinerary. Proof of the city’s vibrant musical theatre scene can be found in three musicals that are on the February schedule. These are The Bodyguard at the Palais des Sports, Les Choristes (The Choristers) at the Folies Bergère and Priscilla, Queen of the Desert at the Casino de Paris. If you want to catch an excellent show while staying at the Hotel Les Tournelles it’s advisable not to delay in booking your tickets.

Under the protection of The Bodyguard at the Palais des Sports

From February 2nd to March 3rd, 2018 the stage of the Palais des Sports will resonate to the sounds of 16 unforgettable Whiney Houston hits played live for two hours. Among other classics you will, of course, enjoy the much-loved ‘I Will Always Love You’. This French adaptation of The Bodyguard, a show that won various prestigious awards for the original London production, offers a wealth of emotions, romance, suspense and glamor. The show is performed by a cast of 35 performers, singers and musicians led by a live orchestra.

Les Choristes at the Folies Bergère; adaptation of a beloved film

The movie Les Choristes (The Choristers) directed by Christophe Barratier, which charmed 8.5 million cinemagoers in 2004, has finally reached the stage. Presented at the Folies Bergère from January 19th to February 11th, 2018, this musical will enchant your eyes as much as your ears. Set against a post-war backdrop, it tells of a new teacher sent to a boarding school for problem boys who becomes their inspirational choirmaster. One boy in particular, Pierre Morhange, reveals an exceptional singing voice. The atmosphere of the film is carefully preserved in this delightful stage production.

Priscilla, Queen of the Desert at the Casino de Paris; a delirious comedy calling for freedom and tolerance

After being performed in London, Sydney and on Broadway and following the success of the first Parisian season in 2017, this much-loved, colourful, funny and generous comedy musical comes to ignite the scene of the Casino de Paris from February 8th to March 17th, 2018. The story of two drag queens and a transgender woman travelling across the remote Australian desert in a tour bus they call Priscilla returns to delight audiences who remember with fondness the brilliant 1994 Aussie film and its eminently danceable camp classic soundtrack. During their life-changing journey the trio encounter various characters and have several adventures before they reach their destination and a profoundly emotional encounter, all punctuated by some of the greatest disco hits of all time. They find love, friendship and much more... Thirty performers, more than 200 over the top wigs, nearly 500 incredible costumes and a fabulously glamorous bus stage set will take you on a musical journey that will get your toes tapping and warm your heart...
