Visit Paris at the end of the year

If Paris is exciting in any season, it's magical at the end of the year. Preparations for the festive season, illuminations, museum and theater programs and Christmas markets give the city a festive air that everyone can enjoy. And if you're not sure what to do during your stay at Hôtel Les Tournelles, our team will be happy to share a thousand and one ideas...

Planning ahead

Depending on what you want to see and do in Paris at the end of the year, you may want to plan ahead. Exhibitions and events can be difficult to get to without having booked your tickets in advance. As 2023 draws to a close, two exhibitions are creating a real buzz. The first is at the Louvre. You'll discover the entire Treasure of Notre-Dame de Paris. Unique goldsmith's and silversmith's pieces, religious objects, exceptional relics and manuscripts are all on display and put into perspective. A fascinating plunge into the very history of Paris and Christianity. The second major exhibition is currently on show at the Musée d'Orsay. Van Gogh à Auvers-sur-Oise looks at the painter's last two months before his suicide. It's unique to be able to admire so many of the artist's paintings in one place. It's also worth booking tickets for the theater, opera and cabarets. There's no doubt that Les Contes d'Hoffman at the Opéra Bastille, Le Roi Lion at the Théâtre Mogador or La Puce à l'oreille at the Comédie Française will fill up the house!

As you wish

But don't worry: it's also possible to enjoy the festive season in Paris without planning anything! For example, you don't need to make a reservation to discover the capital's most beautiful illuminations. The Champs-Élysées, Place Vendôme and Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré, among others, take on a fairytale atmosphere. The stroll will surely take you to the lively department store windows. While the little ones will be enchanted by the magical scenes evoking winter and Christmas, the older ones will quickly rediscover their childlike spirit. You can also visit the city's various Christmas markets. Alsatian specialties at Gare de l'Est, dreamy panoramas of Notre-Dame square René Viviani, gastronomy at the Eiffel Tower or elegance and luxury in Saint-Germain-des-Prés, they all have their own character. Finally, why not treat yourself to some dreamy moments? Climbing to the top of the Montparnasse Tower to sip a glass of champagne while admiring Paris, enjoying a gourmet menu aboard a bateau-mouche, admiring the fabulous Christmas trees at Galeries Lafayette or Printemps Haussmann, are just a few examples of the enchanting moments Paris has to offer...

Get ready for Christmas with us at Hôtel Les Tournelles. Ideally located in the heart of Paris, you'll enjoy all its winter charms and the magic of the festive season.
