All the delights of the 3rd arrondissement
Categories : Flavors and Gastronomy, published on : 4/1/23
Located in the heart of the 3rd arrondissement, the Marais district is renowned for its beautiful private mansions dating from the Renaissance and the classical period, its museums, including the Musée National Picasso and the Musée Carnavalet, and its trendsetting and innovative concept stores. However, the Marais has also built a reputation as a gourmet-oriented district where foodies can find their heart’s desire. Read on as the Hotel Les Tournelles team share some of their best recommendations.
Delicious dining with a respect for tradition
We first take you to the superb setting of the Place des Vosges. This magnificent old square is where you can find a tearoom and pâtisserie that boasts a history dating back nearly a century. It’s called Carette. Elegant and so Parisian, this place immerses you in the timeless décor of a setting that is utterly perfect for enjoying the tempting delicacies on offer. Macarons, choux à la crème, cookies, and more… It’s all ready and waiting for you to savour a deliciously indulgent experience. Whether you want brunch, a snack, a teatime treat or something exquisite to take away, it's always a good time to visit Carette! What’s more, it's barely a two-minute walk from the Hôtel des Tournelles. Another minute’s stroll further on and you’ll come across the Dice Caffè, where the Parisian bistro tradition blends with fine Italian cuisine and generous dishes inspired by market-fresh produce. This traditional yet stylish eatery boasts a menu that changes every week...
The new gourmet addresses in the Marais
Let’s start with Malro, a delightful neo-brasserie with which we have fallen in love. We’re impressed by its spaciousness, the natural light streaming in through the large windows and the loveliness of the winter garden. Everything is underlined by a sober and aesthetic décor that gives pride of place to light and warm tones. On the menu, the Mediterranean reveals all its flavours with beautiful Near Eastern inspirations such as labneh, grilled red beetroot, cumin, zaatar and pomegranate, and grilled squid accompanied by sucrine, capers and anchovies... Or you can opt for a completely different atmosphere by stepping inside the door of Mr T. Amidst a resolutely trendy ambiance with a touch of bling, the chef delights diners with surprising and creative dishes that the whole Marais is talking about. Don't be fooled by the names of the dishes because the Mac & cheese or the kebab on offer have much more in common with a starred restaurant than street food. And if you go there, drawn by its reputation, you’ll definitely be going back for more!
Behind its venerable exterior, the Marais is full of delicious surprises. During your stay at the Hotel Les Tournelles, there will be no need to cross Paris to treat yourself. There are magnificent places where you can eat well, just a stone's throw away!
