Upcoming events at the Grand Palais in 2019
Categories : Exhibitions and Museums, Events, published on : 2/5/19
One of the most emblematic places in Paris, located just off the Champs-Elysées, the Grand Palais was built for the 1900 World's Fair. It’s distinguished by its large glass dome surmounted by the Tricolour flag of our nation. This architectural masterpiece, in which stone, iron, steel and glass blend in perfect harmony, regularly presents exciting exhibitions and other events. In 2019 it welcomes you for a new season offering plenty that is simply unmissable...
Red; Art and Utopia in the Land of the Soviets
This fascinating exhibition evokes the repercussions of the October 1917 revolution for artistic creation. Running from March 20th to July 1st, 2019, it examines through a series of major works the history and conflicts of the period and the introduction of social realism, while raising interesting questions about the politicisation of the arts.
The Moon; From Real Travel to Imaginary Journeys
The Grand Palais also returns to one of the most significant events of the 20th century; the first manned moon landing on July 20th, 1969. To celebrate the 50th anniversary of this astonishing technological feat, a new exhibition looks at our long relationship with our nearest celestial neighbour. The Moon; From Real Travel to Imaginary Journeys (April 3rd to July 22nd, 2019) demonstrates, via various works of art and scientific instruments, the ways in which our world’s barren satellite has always inspired and fascinated us.
Saut Hermes; where sport meets elegance
Equestrianism enthusiasts will find plenty to thrill them at the Saut Hermès from March 22nd to 24th, 2019. The world elite of experienced riders and those under 25 years will gather beneath the great glass dome for three days of this major international show jumping competition that is rated CSI 5 * by the International Equestrian Federation and the French Riding Federation. Sponsored by Hermès in a nod to the renowned brand’s sporting origins, this is one of the most challenging competitions on the circuit.
Art Paris Art Fair; modern and contemporary art in the spotlight
Art lovers, come and celebrate the 21st edition of the Art Paris Art Fair, which returns to the Grand Palais from April 4th to 7th, 2019. This year’s edition of the unmissable Parisian art event promises plenty of beautiful and fascinating discoveries due to the presence of 150 modern and contemporary art galleries from 20 countries, including new exhibitors such as Art Concept, Jérôme Poggi and SAGE Paris. The Art Paris Art Fair 2019 also invites you on a journey through Latin American art from the 60s to today thanks to the support of twenty galleries. Another highlight of the fair will focus on the creativity of female artists in France, bringing together for the occasion some 25 projects. Showcasing emerging artists is another key function of the Art Paris Art Fair and, thanks to the 14 upcoming galleries present in the Promesses sector, you can get in on the ground floor with the stars of tomorrow...
